THE BAKE FEST SWEETS SWAP

The Bake Fest is excited to announce our first ever Sweets Swap!

This is a great opportunity for all of us to get to see, hold, and taste holiday sweets from a new or old friend in our The Bake Fest community.
It’s like an office Secret Santa, but much tastier!
When you sign up, you’ll be assigned a secret match. Bake up a batch of your favorite treats, package them up nicely, and send them off to your match. Once you do, sit back and wait for the treats from the person assigned to you to arrive.
When you get your sweets, share a picture of them on social media – we can’t wait to see all of the delicious goodies getting passed around!

In lieu of a sign up fee, we are suggesting a $10 donation to charity: water. By giving to charity: water, we can help provide clean water to those who need it most. In addition, we can help support their important work in protecting our environment. They work tirelessly to promote clean water initiatives and to safeguard our precious natural resources.

With your help, we can reach our goal of raising $1,000 to provide safe water to 25 people who desperately need it.

DATES

  • November 30: Sign up deadline
  • December 2: Match day
  • December 9: Sweets shipping deadline

GUIDELINES

  • You must live in the United States. While we'd love to make this an international affair, shipping sweets everywhere is cost-prohibitive.
  • Everyone is invited to participate, regardless of your skill level or whether you've attended The Bake Fest.
  • This is a judgment-free zone. If you are going to make fun of someone’s homemade baked good because it isn’t as pretty or as tasty as something you would make, this isn’t the activity for you.
  • You must be able to commit to sending your baked goods out by December 9. It’s not fair to other participants if you don't follow through with your commitment.
  • We cannot promise that desserts will be made in allergy-safe kitchens. If you have allergy concerns to the point where this will be problematic, please do not participate.
  • If you have dietary restrictions, we will pass them along to whoever gets your name. Again, we cannot promise that they will be honored.

WHAT TO SEND

  • All participants are expected to send one dozen small cookies or an equivalent amount of the dessert they're baking. Use your own judgment here about what an equivalent is. If you are making super time-consuming and fancy decorated cookies, maybe 6 feels right. If you are making pies, two mini pies or a half dozen hand pies seems reasonable. A small loaf of bread would also work.
  • Include the recipe (if you can) so the recipient can add it to their repertoire!
  • Make sure that you package your baked goods in a container that offers padding and is suitable for the temperature where they are being sent.

KEEPING IT FUN

  • We encourage you to post about baking for the Sweets Swap by using the hashtag #thebakefestsweetsswap and tagging @the.bake.fest. But, don't tell anyone who you are sending the sweets to - the swap is more fun when it's a surprise!
  • Once you receive your package, please post on social media about what you received and thank the person who sent you the package. Tag @the.bake.fest and your secret sender and use the hashtag #thebakefestsweetsswap so we can find and share your treats on our feed!
